Following last weeks post, an incident occurred in which I fried 5 out of 8 of the boards inside of my chessboard. I was testing the voltage and current when I turned up the power too high. Suddenly, the lights in the board turned off and there was an awful smell in the air. Turns out that awful smell was me accidentally destroying months of work. I now have five unusable boards, with only three survivors.
Luckily, this has given me the chance to fix some issues with the boards that have plagued me in times past, such as a lack of capacitors or the out of order LEDs. I also increased the width of all the traces that will be handling power, so there isn't a chance of something like this happening EVER AGAIN.
The other bit of good news I have is that my new power source finally came in, so I can test that on the surviving board, and it seems to work well, so I'm gonna modify the main board with a new power source and get everything sent off.
